Finding your place in the sun can be a daunting and difficult prospect, however you needn’t feel alone, even the experts need help sometimes.

In Spring 2007 the producers of the hit British television show ‘A Place in the Sun – Home or Away’ contacted Chavetejo Imobiliária’s (estate agents) sister information website GekkoPortugal for help in finding the perfect place for couple Jon and Gill Farkas-Blake.

Jon and Gill were looking for a character property to spend their well-deserved holidays within the Ribatejo region of Central Portugal. Not only were Chavetejo Estate Agents able to help, GekkoPortugal were instrumental in providing a range of stunning locations at which they were able to film including the UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo in Tomar as seen on the programme, which aired on Friday 19^th September 2008.

The programme showcased to a worldwide audience the beauty of the Ribatejo region of Portugal, specifically Castelo do Bode lake – the second largest reservoir within the country. Gill and Jon fell in love with a new build property in the Ribatejo region with lake views through another estate agency despite having an on-screen offer accepted, they decided not proceed due to concerns found with a structural survey. The couple have however continued their search for a property for their place in the sun through Chavetejo and GekkoPortugal. Though any plans for the purchase were put on hold in the summer of 2007 due to the imminent expansion arrival of the latest edition to their family. Chavetejo and GekkoPortugal would like to congratulate Jon and Gill on their new arrival and look forward to the newly -expanded Farkas-Blake family coming to central Portugal soon.
