A two storey stone built house in need of modernisation work for sale near to Alvaiázere in central Portugal. The house, which is connected to mains water and electricity, has many traditional features including stone window and door surrounds. The house, which has wooden framed windows with internal wooden shutters, is situated in a private location.

 

Although the house is set over two floors at present only the first floor is used as living accommodation. The house briefly comprises:

Ground Floor: There are several rooms to the ground floor, all of which have independent exterior doors. There is a wine making and storing room, which has exposed stone walls and a stone flagged floor. The ceiling in this room is wooden beamed and there is a feature stone pillar in situ. There are two store rooms, again both of which have stone flagged floors as well as a room used for storing firewood. While at present these rooms do not form part of the living accommodation they could be converted quite easily.

 

First Floor: Access to the first floor accommodation is via an exterior stone staircase, which leads to a veranda at the side of the house. The main entrance door, which is wooden with glazed panels, leads into the kitchen. The kitchen is triple access and there is a secondary exterior door which leads out to the veranda at the side of the house. The floor within the kitchen is wooden and there is a central brick fireplace. The kitchen also has a hand carved marble sink and drainer as well as a hand carved stone sink.

 

Access to the living room is via a stone archway from the kitchen. The living room has a wooden floor and ceiling. There are three bedrooms, all of which have wooden floors and ceilings. The house also has an attic, which at present is being used for storage purposes.

 

The house is set on a plot measuring approximately 2,000 square metres. The land is completely fenced and there is a large amount of mature grape vines. The land is all reasonable flat and there is a well adjacent to the house.

 

The property is located in the country, but is close to the market town of Alvaiázere in central Portugal. Alvaiázere has several supermarkets as well as cafes, restaurant, bar, shops, pharmacies, schools, builder's merchants, swimming pool, library and weekly market.

 

The larger town of Tomar, which is home to the UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo constructed in the 12th century by the Knight Templars, is around 25 minutes drive from the property. Tomar is a popular and bustling town with a variety of supermarkets, shops, restaurants, library, university, bowling alley, cinema and bus and train stations.

 

The closest airport to the property is situated at Lisbon, which is approximately one and three quarter hours' drive by car. Lisbon airport is serviced by several low cost airlines which operate regular flights into and out of the United Kingdom and other European countries.
