The kitchen is located to the rear of the cottage and has a large, traditional fireplace with wooden mantelpiece. The floor and ceiling in the kitchen is also wooden and there is a bread oven. Off the kitchen there is a spacious pantry room, which has exposed stone walls. There is a wooden staircase off the kitchen which leads to the attic space. The attic is also spacious and has a gable end window, wooden floor and eucalyptus beamed roof. The attic is currently used for storage purposes but could be converted into more living accommodation if required. There is a further room to the rear of the kitchen, which runs the length of the cottage. This room has a concrete floor and a eucalyptus beamed roof. There is a wine making vat to one corner and an exterior access door, which leads out to the property's land. There is a small room within this space, which houses the bathroom. The bathroom is fully tiled and has a bath with shower above, toilet and pedestal sink. There is also an internal, double opening wooden door which leads through to the cottage's garage. The garage adjoins the cottage and has a concrete floor. There is a large, arched vehicle entry door to the front of the garage. There is an attic space to the garage, which is located via a door to the side of the garage. This attic space has a wooden floor and eucalyptus beamed roof and has been used for storing animals. At the rear of the cottage there are some stone built outbuildings which have been used to house animals. The cottage has land measuring 9,990 square metres. The garden immediately surrounding the cottage has some mature shrubs, flowers and grape vines and there are a variety of fruit and olive trees on and remaining land. The property is located on the outskirts of the village of Areias in Central Portugal. The village of Areias has several cafes bars, a mini-market and post office. The town of Ferreira do Zęzere is approximately 25 minutes drive from the property. Ferreira do Zęzere is a popular town and has supermarkets, shops, cafes, restaurants, banks, schools, butchers, bakeries, bus station, builders merchants and municipal sports centre, is around 17 kilometres from the property.
The historic town of
Tomar, which is home to the UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo, is
approximately 10-15 minutes drive from the property. Tomar has several
large supermarkets, shops, cafes, restaurants, library, schools,
hospital, cinema, bowling alley and bus and train stations. The property is easy to locate and is set on a quiet tarmac road. It has good access links and is approximately one and a half hours' drive from the nearest airport at Lisbon. Lisbon airport is serviced by a number of low cost airlines which operate scheduled flights into and out of the United Kingdom. |
