A two bedroom, semi-detached cottage in need of modernisation work for sale close to Tomar in central Portugal. The cottage, which is set over one floor, is connected to mains water and electricity and has land measuring 1,329 square metres. The property has fronts to two roads allowing easy access and there are a variety of mature fruit trees as well as good views over the countryside. Although the cottage is set over one floor there is a spacious attic space, which is currently being used for storage purposes but could be converted into additional living accommodation if required. The cottage, which measures 85 square metres of construction, has stone window and door surrounds and the windows are metal framed. The main entrance to the house leads directly into a living room, with a wooden floor and ceiling, both of which are in fairly good condition. There are two bedrooms of this living room, again both with wooden floors and ceilings. The kitchen is located to the rear of the cottage and has a large, traditional fireplace in situ. The kitchen also has in internal access door which leads into a large barn/storage building at the rear of the cottage. This barn/storage building is set over two floors with a mezzanine area being accessed by a wooden staircase. The barn has a set of double opening metal doors and could be used as a garage. There are additional, brick built storage buildings to the rear of the cottage, which have been traditional used as animal corrals. There is also a wine making room, which has a concrete floor. The cottage does have two fronts to roads providing easy access and there is also a well on the land. The cottage is located in near the village of Casais, which is three kilometres north of Tomar. There are several cafes within walking distance of the cottage as well as a petrol station. Tomar, which is home to the UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo, has a variety of supermarkets, shops, restaurants, art gallery, bowling alley, cinema and bus and train stations.
The cottage is easy to locate and is a short drive from the IC3 Tomar to Coimbra dual carriageway. The closest airport to the property is situated at Lisbon, which can be accessed both by car and train from Tomar. Both journeys take approximately one and a quarter hours. |
