A three bedroom detached cottage situated in it's own private glen for sale near Ferreira do Zęzere in central Portugal. The cottage, which measures around 70 square metres of construction is set on a plot measuring 6,500 square metres. The cottage is connected to mains electricity and with mains water close by. The property does have a well in addition to a water storage tank. The cottage is set over two floors, with the first floor housing the living accommodation. The main entrance to the house leads into a living room with a wooden floor and ceiling. There is a large, traditional fireplace to one corner of the room. The kitchen is accessed off the living room and has a traditional terracotta floor, though this room would require modernisation work specifically the installation of units. Off the kitchen there is a bathroom, again with traditional terracotta tiles. The bathroom is partially tiled and there is a shower, toilet and vanity unit with storage cupboard beneath. There are three bedrooms, all of which have wooden floors and ceilings and good views over the property's land. There is a hallway off the living room, which has an exterior access door. This leads out to a covered terrace at the side of the house. This terrace can be accessed from the rear of the house and there is also a set of stairs leading down to the front of the house and garden. The ground floor of the house is currently used for storage purposes, but could be converted into additional living accommodation quite easily. There are two rooms to the ground floor, both of which has stone walls and exterior access doors. The property also has an attic, which is accessed via an exterior staircase. There is a large veranda at the top of these stairs and this affords good views over the countryside. The attic has a wooden floor and wooden beamed roof. Electricity is already installed within the attic and it could be easily converted into an additional bedroom. There is a detached animal barn near to the cottage which is in a good condition. The animal barn is set over one floor and has a large terrace adjacent to it. The property has land measuring 6,500 square metres of land, some of which is flat. There is a wide variety of mature trees on the land including orange, lemon, eucalyptus, pine and oak. There is a stream at the boundary of the property's land. Although there are neighbouring properties near the cottage, these are not visible and the cottage has a secluded feel. The cottage is accessed via a gravel road of around 700 metres, though this is in good condition. The village of Frazoeira is around three quarters of a kilometre from the property and the larger town of Ferreira do Zęzere is around ten-15 minutes drive away. Ferreira do Zęzere is a popular town and has a variety of supermarkets, shops, cafes, restaurants, health centre, bus station and schools. Castelo do Bode lake, Portugal's second largest reservoir, is close to Ferreira do Zęzere and there are several public river beaches. Castelo do Bode is popular for all kinds of water sports including sailing, swimming, scuba diving, canoeing and fishing.
The historic town of Tomar also has supermarkets as well as the UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo, art galleries, museums, train and and bus stations and a hospital. Tomar is approximately 20 minutes drive from Ferreira do Zęzere.
The closest airport to the property is located at Lisbon, which is approximately one and a half hours' by car. Lisbon airport is serviced by several low cost airlines which operate scheduled flights into and out of the United Kingdom. |
