There is an old well on the land and a good variety of mature olive and fruit trees as well as grape vines. The cottage has been constructed in traditional Xisto stone and the walls of the building measure 50 centimetres thick. The window and door surrounds are also stone, though carved. The roof is still intact, though does need attention. The roof beams are eucalyptus and the tiles are traditional, hand-crafted one. Both the ground and first floors of the cottage are open plan though could be sub-divided easily. The cottage is situated on a plot measuring 9,600 square metres, the majority of which is relatively flat, though there are undulating inclines throughout. There is a wide variety of mature olive fruit trees in situ as well as some fledgling pine trees. The cottage is situated within a country setting and there are no near neighbours though the village of Nesperal is a short ten minute walk. The larger town of Cernache do Bonjardim, which has cafes, restaurants, bars, shops, supermarket, post office, health centre, schools and banks, is only three kilometres from the property. The closest airport to the property is situated at Lisbon, which is approximately two and a quarter hours by car. Lisbon airport is serviced by a variety of low cost airlines, which operate regular flights into and out of the United Kingdom and other European countries. |
