About the House

This stylish countryside Manor House was rebuilt in 2008 and is in very good structural and decorative condition. During restoration the owner has made sure to blend plenty of the house’s original features with contemporary standards and materials resulting in a very charming property with unique character.

The House measures 90sqm foot print, providing a total of 180sqm of livable space over 2 floors. There’s the additional possibility of converting the same size foot print of loft space into more rooms with pleasant countryside views (the roof was rebuilt and insulated in 2009 maintaining the original arched windows). The garden measures 8550sqm with woodland and various fruit and olive trees.

The house is connected to mains water, electricity, telephone line and uses bottled gas for cooking, sewage is done through a septic tank and there are 2 wells usable for irrigation.

There are 2 entrances to the house, one paved in traditional white Portuguese cobble via a wooden gate through a full height masonry wall, which leads to a spacious courtyard; there you’ll find a 7×4 meter swimming pool as well as access to the covered BBQ and annex entrance area.

The other entrance has a small porch with a wooden stable door which opens to a storage/cloakroom partition, leading then on to the large and bright open plan living and dining room, in this space the floor is entirely tiled with ceramic tiles and the ceilings are plastered but maintaining visible the original wood beams.

The property faces south and provides this room with plenty of natural light coming through the 3 sets of wooden French doors which all have sun shutters installed, the room is also cool due to the thick walls and the 2 large windows to let in a northern breeze if required, the windows all have internal wooden shutters.

The fully fitted kitchen is accessed either from the outside through wooden French doors or from the living/dining room through an arched wall which then leads to the utility room behind a traditional terracotta wine rack wall; all kitchen white goods are included in the sale.

Another excellent feature in the house was the conversion of the originally external stone staircase for upstairs access being incorporated to the indoor space so the access is done from living/dining room and has large glass windows at the top providing plenty of natural light.

Off the stone staircase landing there’s a tiled toilet and shower room and to the left the original doors were refurbished and maintained providing access to the bright and generous size bedrooms through a restored wood flooring hall.

The 2 bedrooms on the left which face the front of the house both have wooden French doors with sun shutters and verandas with decorative iron balusters; the first of the bedrooms is double aspect having also a window with wooden shutters facing east.

There’s 1 bedroom on the right facing the back of the house which is en-suite with shower room and toilet; the windows have internal wooden shutters.

Straight at the end of the upstairs hall is the master bedroom with en-suite shower room, wooden French doors with sun shutters and a veranda. This space is double aspect with 2 large windows to the west of the property all protected by sun shutters; in this bedroom there’s a small fitted wardrobe, the flooring is ceramic tiles and the ceilings are the original restored wooden ceilings.

On the first floor there’s also a staircase to the loft.

Outdoor Buildings and Garden

The annex has a large wood fired oven and enough space for play area, workshop and garage.

Behind the annex there’s another roofless building which can easily be converted to any required use such as a barn, stables, garden shed etc.

There are numerous fruit and olive trees which can be watered using the 2 wells in the property, there’s also a fair bit of woodland which would be suitable to keep horses or farm animals amongst all other possible usages.

This house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac within walking distance from the small town of Pussos which has a supermarket and café. All other amenities including market, banks, cafes, restaurants, medical centre, post office, pharmacy and shops are only 5 minutes away either in the small town of Cabaços or the bigger Municipality of Alvaiázere which in addition to the above also offers further local services and sport facilities such as a Police station, Registry office, Tax office, Court room, Indoor and Outdoor swimming pools, full size football pitch, athletics running track
